Al-Hilal vs Al-Wehda: Will the champion continue to show off?
Our Expert Predictions & Analysis on Al-Hilal vs Al-Wehda
Al-HilalThe current champions seem to be getting back into top form. Having been "punched" by their main rivals this season, Al-Ittihad, in the cup match (2:2 and a penalty loss), Jorge Jesus' charges got pretty angry and channeled that anger into the right direction - into goals against their new opponents. Al-Orouba and Al-Fateh were unlucky in this regard. The former lost 0:5, while the latter, Al-Hilal, scored 9 "dry" goals last weekend, repeating the record rout in the history of the Saudi league.
On the one hand, the defeat of an outsider and a fighter for survival does not yet indicate any particular progress in the champion’s game, but on the other hand, it is, at the very least, an argument in favor of the desire with which Al-Hilal now goes out to matches and which, it seemed, the team lacked last November.
It is also important to remember that Al-Hilal achieved their last spectacular victories without their main scorer, the injured Serb Aleksandar Mitrovic, who will not be in Tuesday’s match either.
Al-Wehda
Uruguayan specialist Jose Carreno has not yet been able to qualitatively change the game and results of his new team (the coach has been working with Al-Wehda only since November). Even with a squad that is not the worst by Saudi standards (with Nigerian Odion Ighalo and other valuable personnel), the "coach" has not been able to do the main thing - to make his charges perform consistently.
As a result, it turns out that hard-fought victories alternate with hurtful defeats. And the latter were noticeably more numerous in Al-Wehda's last matches. For example, at the weekend, the team "burned" at home to Al-Qadisiya with a crushing score of 0:3, although based on the game, they were aiming for at least a "not a dry score".
